Devon is the director of Clear Spring Studio. She holds a BA in anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in geography from the University of New Mexico, and is nationally certified to teach in the Iyengar tradition. Devon began formal practice of Iyengar Yoga in 1978, and since then has studied with senior-level Iyengar teachers both here and abroad, as well as with Mr. Iyengar, his son Prashant and his daughter Geeta in Pune.  She has taught since 1980 in New Mexico, Africa and Texas.  Teachers who have profoundly influenced Devon over the decades include Ramanand Patel, Manouso Manos, Mary Dunn, Patricia Walden, John Schumacher, Ed Marks and Mary Obendorfer.  I am also really starting to like Patanjali.  Outside the Iyengar Community,Buddhist teachers and other Contemplative writers and practitioners inspire me:  Flint Sparks, Reb Anderson, the writings of Sogyal Rimpoche, Pema Chodron and the especially interesting research into the mind and emotions by Dalai Lama.

FULL TIME STUDENTS (with ID) are offered a 25% discount off all Devon’s classes.
FOR THOSE IN FINANCIAL NEED:  I will never turn an earnest student away who lacks the means to pay for classes.  If you need a reduction in your fees, just ask.  Yoga is supposed to work like this; it is my job and my joy to offer this to you.

For over 20 years, Ariel has traveled different parts of the world leading workshops, holding women’s groups, and working privately with clients. She currently lives in Berlin, studies the Grinberg Method, has a private practice, and travels within Europe and the U.S. teaching Workshops and programs. She has just completed 2 international women’s programs in Sweden and Denmark.

Her desire for knowing led her to study with many teachers including  Richard Strozzi Heckler, Darrell Caulkins, Julio Ollala, Paul Ortel, Sofia Diaz and David Deida. She also trained extensively in yoga, living in India for a time in order to do so.  She is currently a Stage I student of the Grinberg Method ™ and is available for practice.

Since 1997, Ariel has taught and continues to teach within women’s groups in weekly classes, weekend workshops, week-long retreats and month-long programs.

Synthesizing all of her experience, Ariel teaches from a deeply somatic point of view – not following idealistic ideologies, but listening to what the students themselves bring to a room or a moment, and then guiding their attention to aspects of themselves they may have forgotten to notice – guiding them back to Themselves
